Brief
Elle Decoration, hosts of the annual British Design Awards, required an event producer to put together and manage all levels of organisation and production for 2008 at One Marylebone Road. Objective
The Awards promote the best in UK interiors talent. The Oscars of the design world is hugely respected by industry insiders and all those in the know. If a design is new, British and brilliant, it is celebrated here. The production, catering and event design had to deliver at the high level expected by awards such as these. An overriding requirement was to work within a very tight budget provided by the client. This meant that Inproductions had to deliver food, drink and staff at a significantly reduced cost without sacrificing quality and service. Execution
Branding boards were installed at the venue entrance while fantastic pink up-lighters illuminated the church columns. Sophisticated, state-of-the-art glow poseur tables marked the reception area where guests enjoyed the flowing champagne. The Awards were a standing affair so plasma screens had to be positioned throughout the hall on raised platforms ensuring that guests had a clear view of the evening’s proceedings. The raised church altar area was used for the awards stage, with intelligent lighting making the most of the spectacular architecture. Even with the reduced budget, Inproductions served every guest a comprehensive British canapé menu, as a result of winning catering sponsorship. After the awards, unlimited wine, beer, soft drinks and Tanqueray cocktails were served late into the evening as guests enjoyed the contemporary DJ.
