Thames River Capital Christmas Party
Brief
Thames River Capital, a Mayfair based global hedge fund, demands the most exciting, original Christmas parties every year. 2007 was no exception. The challenge was to top the previous stunning black and white affair at the Astor Bar & Grill.
Objective
The client’s criteria was great food, drink and service. The entertainment and overall party design was also paramount. A number of venues were looked at, but The Collection was selected as its spectacular interior lent itself to the chosen theme of “Voodoo Christmas”.
Execution

At the door glamorous hostesses wearing voodoo hair dresses met guests. The glass catwalk entrance was gelled red and under-lit. Perspex frames all along the walkway walls displayed large tarot card images. As guests entered the venue for the champagne reception they were greeted by male and female “dance of death” stilt walkers, performing to Zulu bongo drummers. On the screens throughout the venue a loop of specially edited voodoo film footage played all night. Dinner was called by the evening’s unique MC, the Baron Samedi from the Bond movie ‘Live and Let Die’. During dinner guests were visited by the Witch Doctor who performed magic and cast spells. After the meal ‘Baron Samedi’ posed for photos prior to a Zulu tribe dance performance. The entertainment culminated with a funky DJ. Those that wanted to chill out could visit Solitare - the ‘Live and Let Die’ tarot reader.
